"1930s Nortons - What Did They Cost Folk Back Then?"

Hey all,

Sorry to disturb you, but one thing I'm very curious about is how much various 1930s' Nortons cost back when they were first manufactured. Not how much they're worth now, but what folks originally had to pay for the likes of the Model 30 when it came out in '32, for example.

If anyone can shed light on this subject at all, it'd be greatly appreciated, thank you.

cheers!
Colin

You are in luck.

Mick Woollett's book Norton. Complete Illustrated History answers this question.

In Sept 1931 Norton announced the price for the 1932 range.

Model 30 490cc International 90 UK Pounds.
Model 40 348cc International 82.5 UK Pounds.

The CJ and CS camshaft models were 10 UK pounds less. A 4 Speed gearbox cost 2 UK pounds more.

I assume this information is correct but cannot independently verify it.
