"New piston ring installation"

I have a new set of rings for my 850 Norton.
The compression rings have a bevel on the inside,
Does the bevel go up on both compression rings ??

If the rings are new old stock from AE or Hepolite there should be a comprehensive fitting guide in the box.In some ring designs the bevel is there to allow gas pressure to get behind the ring and increase the wall pressure when the engine is running without having to use a heavy ring with a high static load. If the rings are of identical section fit them both the same, if not phone one of the specialist dealers who advertise rebuilding and ask them.Hope this helps. Regards, Simon
