"Norton Navigator Puzzle"

Hi all - I know this sounds nutty but I am beginning to
restore a 1961 Norton Navigator which I bought in boxes. There
is a hexagonal bar about 30cm long with mashed threads which I
am having restored. Is that the mounting point for the rider's
footpegs? Please let me know what sized nut (external flat to
flat measurement)is fitted to the hex bar - I am having the
threads restored and new nuts made. Incidentally am in South
Africa.

Alternatively I'd appreciate being directed to a Navigator owner, so that I can ask the question directly. Thank you!

Not likely to be UNF OR UNC since it's 1961. BSC BSF or BSW threads.
whats the diameter? and the approximate threads per inch. I could probably tell you the hex size options. However the parts list would be the best source to start with. You do have the IPL right?

Welcome friend. I have emailed DynoDave to check in and see if he can help. He is usually pretty quick to respond.

Edit: Apparently Dave was responding as I wrote this message. I told you he was quick.

Thank you both (DynoDave and Norton Guy) for the replies.
Unfortunately the hex bar is currently with an Engineer friend
who is waiting for my reply, so I'll have to ask him to
identify the thread for me. In spite of the thread being
pretty much mashed up, I am sure he will be able to do a
thread count, and give me an o/d measurement of the threaded
part. I'll keep you posted.
