"Running Woes"

Good day all. This is my first post. I have a 1973 Tiger 750/TR7RV. I have owned it for two years and had trouble with surging at speed (above 40MPH).

To correct this I installed Boyer Brandsen Ignition ( the original breaker system was so sloppy that I don't know how it ran). This changed nothing.

I removed the carb and found it so full of gunk that I don't know how fuel ever got through it! So I installed a Mikuni carb.

There were no original parts available here in Aus or elsewhere at the time and it took almost 18 months to locate various specialist tools.

So, after all this and lots of mucking about with the timing, it ran well. About ten short rides as I aquainted myself with the idiosyncrasies.

Now it will only start when cold and runs only until it warms up. Then you can't start it at all. There is spark and fuel.

Any ideas anyone?
