"commando battery trays"

another PIA newbie question: thanks for being patient:

are there major differences in Commando battery trays? I have a 71 commando and want to score one on E-bay but need to know if they are pretty much interchangeable year to year.

(I may break down and fabricate one anyhow but if I can find a good one cheep, that'll save my hands for another project

thanks: Karl Hoyt

p.s....... I build high-end bass guitars and teach guitar building for my day job. if anyone is also a bassist and wants to trade parts/services for a new bass, let me know offline): thanks kfh

THere are at least 3 types of trays
1 for the "S" type oil tank up to 70(also used on early roadsters)
2. "roadster" type oil tank 71-74
3. E-start

Not positive but
early fastback oil tank is probably different and it's own type

The 71+ should be easy enough to find new or second hand from a dealer, ebay or fleamarket vendor
