"Primary Cover"

Hi ,I have a crack in the primary cover of my 74 850 Norton where the crank nut came off once. Can it be welded and polished out? If so , who would you recommend to do it , preferably in Canada. It is barely visible and only mists some oil. Thanks

It can certainly be repaired although there will probably always be a colour change visible on the site of the weld. The cover should be pre-heated and clamped flat or it may distort.

If you are just concerned about the oil mist, it might be worth trying Lumiweld or something on the inside face or even a chemical system such as "Devcon" - It will certainly be strong enough.

Rich.
