"Swing arm removal"

Hello, I am having one hell of a time trying to remove the swing arm from my 75 850. The two "cotters" which locate the spindle are stuck and will not budge! I've filled the area that the little rubber caps go with penetrating oil. One side the oil soaked through and the other it's still full. I then ran the nut down to the bottom of the threads, took a brass drift and hammer to it with no luck. As careful as I have been I still mannaged to bust the threaded end of one cotter off. I have had the swing arm off to replace the bushings more than once but never had so much difficulty. HELP!
Thanks Lenny
