"Is my 1970 Commando an S? Please help ID"

Hello,

I recently purchased a 1970 Commando that many have told me is an "S" model. Of course, it has low pipes now.

Is there a way to determine the model? I have been told the vin is of no help, but here it is: 20M3S138092.

Thanks

The headlight ring will be the most distinctive feature of the "S".

They also had the headlight ring on the low pipe roadster which was very similar to the "S". I don't think there's any way to positively tell as body work was basically the only difference between models and could be easily switched to create whatever model desired.

Hi. If you take a close look at the side covers you will find the S side cover is slightly sharper at the rear top point. Also it has the square oil tank sitting on the front of the battery carrier.Cheers
