"Exhaust Threads"
|
Hi Guys, Anyone have the name of someone here in the States (preferably in the north east) that repairs exhaust threads w/o welding. I don't care for the look of the welded inserts. I can't remember where I saw it, but someone had a helicoil type repair. Thanks Tyrone

Hello Ty,
I don't know how important having someone close to your home do this. If you do need to ship your head off, I've had very good results with Phil Radford at Fair Spares America in San Jose, CA. He taps and srews in a hard aluminum insert in, that is then pegged. A nice looking repair. Phil is at (408) 292-8514.

Yes but these are the ugly welded ones like I do. To me they're not really that bad and can even be machined after welding, but cost more because of the extra time to set them up on the machine again. I do like this style best because once they are done, in the rare case they would need to be repaired again, you could possibly do them yourself with just the new insert.

I'm very interested in getting an exhaust insert from Phil in San Jose, CA. However, his phone number (408) 292-8514 links over to a FAX maching. Anyone have any idea of his current phone number? thanks Bill
