"Ammeter installation,how to wire"
|
I have a 73' 850 Commando, and I Biught a headlight shell with an ammeter. My question is; how to wire it. Can I find a switched hot lead and wire it in series, or do I have to return to ground? I looked in some old Thiumph service manuals, but the wiring is different. Any help would be great.

I wired in a voltmeter and ammeter onto my 1977 Mark 3. I took the feed from the rectifier through the ammeter and back into the battery. You will need thick cables for this. The voltmeter was easier as it could be fed from a lead off the ignition switch.

which lead from the rectifier did you come off of , and what side of the battery did you return to? Also , what gauge wire did you use for the ammeter? thanks.
