"'69 Bonnieville front fork"

I've been given a lower fork leg from a '69 Bonnieville for repair. The plating shop (oh you evil-doers!) buffed the seal retainer threads so badly that assembly is not possible. Does anybody have an illustration of the fork leg so I can see what, if anything, goes inside the fork leg under the threaded area? I don't know if I should try to weld it up and rethread it or perhaps expand the ID and reform the thread.

All the books I have are Norton.
